Prosperity
Gold-Copper Mine, Canada
Agrodev provided senior management expertise to
the development and implementation of an
environmental planning and assessment strategy
for a major open-pit mine in Western Canada. This
large multi-disciplinary undertaking prepared the
project for review and approval under both
provincial and federal environmental assessment
processes.
Environmental Management of Mine Clearance
Activities, Kosovo
Agrodev carried out an environmental review of
CIDA-funded activities for the clearance of mines
and unexploded ordinance in Kosovo. The resulting
"Standing Operating Procedure: Environmental
Management" is being adopted by CIDA and by
UN mine action organizations.
Environmental Assessment of Small
Projects, Balkans
Agrodev carried out environmental assessments of
several small infrastructure projects in Albania,
Macedonia and Kosovo for CIDA.
Caspian Basin Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Reduction Training Program
Agrodev prepared this $4 million program to train
energy-sector operators in up to four Caspian
Basin countries to develop project proposals that
could be funded under the flexibility mechanisms
of the Kyoto Protocol to the UNFCCC. The work
involved a field mission to Azerbaijan,
Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, and
substantial upgrading of standard CIDA bid
documents.
Review of Russia Environment Program,
CIDA
Agrodev identified "lessons learned"
and developed recommendations for future
environment programming in Russia based on
document research and interviews with
participants in some 20 development assistance
projects.
