Organizations, both public
and private, profit and non-profit, are the foundations
and framework of society. Strengthening
organizations to effectively meet society's needs is
essential to global sustainability. Effective
organizations have a clear understanding of their
mandates, capabilities and programs, and of how to work
with stakeholders and partners in the public and private
sectors. Organizational development, capacity building and training are integral to virtually all of Agrodev's assignments. Agrodev works in partnership with organizations to assist in defining their roles and objectives, and to assess and develop strategic management and human resources development approaches. Agrodev delivers Training Workshops on Participatory Learning and Action and Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation every summer in Ottawa that attract participants from all over the world. Project Profiles Agrodev provided assistance to the Government of Brunei Darussalam to improve support services to the horticulture production and processing industry. Fisheries Component, Agricultural Productivity Improvement, Cambodia Agrodev provided technical assistance to the Department of Fisheries in support of the rehabilitation of the main freshwater fisheries station at Chriang Chamres; the initiation of a breeding program for indigenous fish; and updating the fisheries law and developing a fisheries master plan. Women in Development, Cambodia This project improved the welfare of women by strengthening the institutional capacity of the Secretariat of State for Women's Affairs. It was awarded the 1996 Canadian Award for International Development. Environmental Management Training / Study Tours, Canada Agrodev has carried out three in-Canada training / study tours for officials of the Taiwanese Environmental Protection Administration. Institutional Strengthening of the Ministry of Fisheries, Vietnam Agrodev worked with the Ministry of Fisheries to enhance its ability to monitor catch quality and improve port management. Environment Planning and Assessment, the Palestinian Authority Agrodev assisted the Palestinian Authority with the development and implementation of environmental planning and assessment policy, procedures, and capacity building. Agrodev has provided many organizations and project teams with training in such areas as strategic planning, results based management, participatory monitoring and evaluation, participatory learning and action, facilitation and conflict resolution. |
